Pantone Picks the Luxurious Marsala as 2015 Color of the Year

Marsala...even the name rolls right off the tongue with such luxuriousness.

The new IT color has been described as "... a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth." by Leatrice Eiseman (the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute who has helped decide the color for the last 14 years)

Other descriptive terms that are being used, such as"hardy", "robust", “nurturing" and "fulfilling” , or "full-bodied". "wine-kissed"and "satisfying", like the Italian wine the name comes from, forecast how we will be seeing the color used in the fashion over the next year as we see designer runways and car driveways sporting that warm red-brown hue.

Ms Eiseman and her team travel the world looking for colors and how they are interact in our lives. These are not new colors...they've been around...it's how the colors are used in a wide variety of ways that grabs their attention.

The color, she says, "...has a natural earthiness created from the hues of red and brown with underlying blues that give it a dark blush effect." It was picked as this year's color of the year because it works well for both men and women, all skin tones and offers a sense of warmth to the hearth and home. In addition it can be mixed easily with grey, black, beige and any other neutrals that you already own.

As retailers rush to stock their shelves with items in that color, you will be seeing it in anything from kitchenware to eyewear and everything else in between.

Check out a few of our eyewear pieces that come in this color-sense and get ahead of the fashion trend for 2015
