Why Visiting Cape Cod in September is AWESOME!

Last week, we shared a video that showcased Cape Cod in September. The premise behind the video was that there’s no better month to be in this part of Massachusetts than now.

We can’t argue with that (though we honestly love the excitement of the summer).

September is also, in our opinion, the best time of year to play golf. Courses are less crowded, rates go down and the weather is ideal for nine or 18 holes.

Whether you’re a recreational golfer or more competitive, now is a great time to improve your game and get a little exercise in the process.

As far as where to play, if you live on Cape Cod, we’ve got a short list of our favorite courses:

  • Falmouth Country Club – With wide open fairways, this public course is forgiving, making it ideal for the novice golfer, but challenging enough for the more seasoned pro. It’s well-maintained and picturesque, the only course on Cape Cod certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
  • Sandwich Hollows Golf Course – One of the more popular courses in the region for locals and tourists alike, Sandwich Hollows is more reminiscent of New Hampshire or Vermont with its lush green backdrop. With short fairways, the front nine is both fun and relatively easy. The back nine, much more challenging with the 10th, 11th and 17th holes among the hardest thanks to their sloping fairways and elevated greens.
  • Highland Links – The oldest course on Cape Cod, Highland Links was built in 1892 and is a must-play for avid golfers. Be warned: it’s windy, perched on picturesque bluffs along the Eastern shore of the Atlantic Ocean. With its untamed rough and non-irrigated open fairways, it is as Scottish as they come (kilts are optional). Adding to the atmosphere is nearby Highland Light, a constant reminder that you’re still on Cape Cod. And you’re lucky to be playing golf.

So what are you waiting for? Get outside and give these courses a shot.

And don’t forget to bring your sunglasses. They can improve your game (really). If you’re looking for a new pair, we’re offering a 20% discount on our line of golfing sunglasses through Columbus Day (October 12). Just use the code: GOLF15 when checking out.
